In an era of ever-larger firms, we bet on getting smaller.
Nathaniel Marlowe left a national firm in 1994 because he was tired of a model where the lawyer clients hired was rarely the lawyer who did the work. Adaeze Osei joined him a decade later on the same conviction.
Three decades on, the firm remains deliberately small — enough lawyers to cover the work that matters, few enough that a partner still knows every client by name. It turns out that is exactly what people want when the stakes are high.

A Short History
1994
Marlowe opens its doors
Nathaniel Marlowe founds the firm on Meridian Avenue with two files, one assistant, and a conviction about how law should be practised.
2004
Adaeze Osei joins as partner
A rising litigator leaves a national firm to build the disputes practice. The firm becomes Marlowe & Osei.
2011
The estates practice is founded
Priya Chandra joins, adding real estate and a full trusts and estates practice to the firm.
2019
Recognized among Canada’s best
Both founding partners are appointed King’s Counsel; the firm earns an AV Preeminent rating.
2026
Still deliberately small
Three partners, a tight bench of counsel and associates, and more work than we could ever have imagined turning away.
