ABOUT COPPERLINE
One van, one rule, thirty-eight years.
Sal Herrera bought a used van in 1988 and painted a copper stripe down the side because paint was cheaper than advertising. The rule he taped to the dashboard is still the whole business plan: quote it before you touch it.
Cut square. Sweat clean. No shortcuts.
The material we took our name from.

THE SHORT VERSION
Thirty-eight years, five moments.
One van, one copper stripe
Sal starts Copperline out of the garage on Foundry Road. First customer: the house next door, a frozen hose bib. He still has the invoice — $12.
The rule gets written down
Second van, first employee. Sal writes the quote-first rule into the hiring paperwork so it survives him being in two places at once.
The kids come home
Marco joins after his apprenticeship; Elena takes over dispatch and scheduling. The 24/7 emergency line starts — a real phone, answered by a person.
Sal hands over the keys
Marco runs the field crews, Elena runs the office, and Sal still comes by on Fridays to inspect the van bays and complain, lovingly.
Six vans, same sign
Eleven people, 4.9 stars across 1,147 reviews. The dashboard rule is now a sign in the shop — but it hasn't changed a word.
HOW WE WORK
Three habits we don't break.
Quote first. Always.
You get the number in writing before we open a valve. If we find something worse once we're in, work stops and you get a new number to approve. No surprises on the invoice, ever.
Tell you when it can wait.
Half of "emergencies" can safely wait until morning — and morning rates are lower. We'll tell you which half you're in on the phone, free, even if it costs us the after-hours fee.
Leave it cleaner than we found it.
Tarps down, boot covers on, shop vac before we leave. If you can tell we were there by anything other than working plumbing, call Elena and she'll make it right.
WHO SHOWS UP
The people at the door.
Every tech is licensed, background-checked, and texts you their name before they knock.
Marco Herrera
MASTER PLUMBER · RUNS THE CREWS
Apprenticed under his father, licensed at 24. Still takes the 3 a.m. calls himself two nights a week because "you learn what the city's pipes are doing at 3 a.m."
Elena Herrera
OPERATIONS · THE VOICE ON THE PHONE
Built the arrival-window texting system after one too many customers told her they'd wasted a vacation day waiting. Answers the emergency line like it's family calling.
Sal Herrera
FOUNDER · FRIDAY INSPECTIONS
Retired on paper. In practice, checks every van bay on Fridays, keeps the $12 invoice from 1988 framed in the office, and answers exactly one question: "Is it done right?"
Something leaking right now?
Call and a person answers. Or send the details and Elena will call you back within the hour, 7:00–17:30.
